Good to know from A to Z (FAQ)

Arrival

Please check in at the buffet counter in the restaurant. Here you will be given the number of your bed or room along with all other important information for your stay on the Faulhorn.

Beds

We have six double rooms and one four-bed room as well as two dormitories with 30 beds each.

Pillows and duvets are provided in the dormitory. For hygiene reasons, please bring a light sleeping bag liner (travel sheet) with you.

A warm fleece sleeping bag can also be rented for CHF 7.00 (deposit CHF 20.00)

The rooms come equipped with bed linen.

Breakfast

The room or dormitory price includes breakfast and taxes. As far as possible we offer you a rich breakfast with coffee, hot milk, muesli, bread and so on.

Breakfast is served in high season in summer from 7.30am to 8.45am, in autumn from 8.00am to 9.00am.

Cancellation

In the event of very bad weather conditions, cancellations or postponements of reservations from 1 to 10 persons must be notified by telephone at least 2 days before the booked stay, no later than 10.00am, and confirmed by Faulhorn AG.

 

For group reservations of 10 or more persons, cancellations, postponements and any changes to the number of persons must be notified by telephone at least 3 days before the booked stay, no later than 10.00am, and confirmed by Faulhorn AG.

Where cancellations or postponements are notified too late or not at all, Faulhorn AG is entitled to charge the following compensation per person:

Dormitory: CHF 30.00

Rooms: CHF 50.00

Children

Please note that the climb to the Faulhorn takes at least two hours. This hike is suitable for children only if they are older and/or in good physical condition.

Curfew

There is a 10.00pm curfew and the restaurant closes.

Day visitors

We are very pleased to welcome daytime guests and offer them a delicious range of food and drink.

Delays

On your way here, if you realise that you are not going to make it to the hotel by 6.00pm, please let us know as early as possible by phone at +41 79 534 99 51.

Dinner

Dinner is served between 6.00pm and 7.00pm. There is a choice of two set meals, one vegetarian and one with meat.

 

If you are a vegetarian or have allergies (coeliac disease, lactose intolerance etc.), please let us know when making your reservation. This gives us a chance to offer you suitable alternatives.

Dogs

Dogs are always welcome, but they are not permitted to stay overnight in the dormitory. There are two separate rooms where you can keep your dog free of charge.

If you have booked a room, your four-legged friend is allowed to spend the night with you there. Surcharge: CHF 15.00

Indoor footwear

Dormitory: Please put some light slippers in your backpack.

Rooms: Slippers are provided.

Lunch

Tea for your journey is available at the buffet during breakfast for you to fill your water bottle (CHF 4.00 / litre).

We are pleased to prepare a packed lunch for your journey. Please let us know the evening before.

Mobile devices/WiFi

We get good Swisscom reception (4G) on the Faulhorn, but have no public WiFi. Mobile devices may be charged for a small fee (CHF 1.00).

Opening hours

Faulhorn Mountain Hotel opens in summer only. Depending on the condition of the hiking trails, we open round about 20 June, and close when the cablecars stop operating (about 20 October)

Payment

The bill for HP and drinks must be paid to the service staff on duty before the 10.00pm curfew.

Payments may be made in cash (CHF or EUR) or by Visa, Mastercard or Maestro.

Reservations

Reservations for our mountain hotel are mandatory, so that we can guarantee you a bed.

Reservations may be made with a few clicks via our booking program or by phone on +41 79 534 99 51.

SAC (Swiss Alpine Club)

Faulhorn Mountain Hotel is family-owned and not affiliated with the Swiss Alpine Club SAC. Since we have to pay for all investments and maintenance work from our own pockets, we cannot grant any price reductions to Alpine Club members.

Water/Showers

We have no drinking water supply on our mountain. Since we have to use water sparingly, we do not have guest showers. For personal hygiene, cold water is provided.

The dormitory includes a washroom, and the rooms are equipped with nostalgic water jugs and bowls.
